MISSION STATEMENT

HISTORY OF CREEKSIDE MIDDLE SCHOOL

Our school began its life in the early 1950's as Earl Warren Junior High School, one of two junior highs in Castro Valley. However, in the late 1970's declining enrollment caused Canyon, one of our town's two high schools, to be shut down. A few years later, Canyon became Castro Valley's only middle school as both Earl Warren and A.B.Morris were closed. The A.B.Morris campus was torn down and the property sold. The Castro Valley Adult School program moved to the Earl Warren Campus.

Then, with increasing student enrollment, a decision was made in December 1996 to open a second middle school in Castro Valley. The Castro Valley Adult School campus was selected as the site for our school. The adult school was relocated and renovation of the Center Street campus began in February 1997. "Creating Creekside" was very exciting and rewarding. Through a tremendous effort, our school was ready to welcome its first 500 students in September 1997.
